A Little History
Welcome to our Red Haven page! Red Haven Farm was started in June 2021 when we decided we wanted more space and more animals.
We moved from a small 2-acre farm in Northville Michigan in the middle of the Detroit suburbs to 540 acres in Irvine Kentucky. It was a fairly spontaneous decision, but the time seemed right with COVID allowing us both to work from home, kids in college and the desire to live a healthier lifestyle. We were also looking for a place to enjoy our future retirement. We saw this farm in the beautiful Red Lick Valley and we were immediate in love with the place.
Since purchasing the farm, we have focused on getting the land back in working order, building up our livestock, creating amazing short-term rentals, establishing our homestead and enjoying the land.
We welcome you to visit and see this beautiful part of the world.
About the Owners
The farm is owned and run by Sandy Ross and Martin Caruana.
Sandy has had a career as a “number-cruncher” working as an actuary and executive at various insurance companies. She still works full-time but can work remotely since her staff is spread across the country.
Martin owns his own IT Consulting Business, Your Web Help. He still services his clients while juggling farm chores.
Sandy has three adult children. Ryan Ross graduated from the University of Michigan and works as an IT Developer for a large, international consulting firm from home in Michigan. Ryan Ross is also part owner. Parker Ross graduated from Michigan State and lives in Pittsburgh working in Finance. Lauren Ross is studying animal sciences at the University of Kentucky. She truly loves her time at the farm!
Martin has a daughter, Lyn, who lives in Canada and works as a web developer.
